IMMO BOOK CLUB

While most Guildies have/are making their way through the World of Warcraft book series, we decided to introduce other works of fiction too...

We have a fair few aficionados of fantasy literature among us, and given Shadowlands has not yet released and there will likely be a few more months of rotating lockdowns/restrictions, we decided to setup a Book Club for those interested with recommendations from all genres.

It will come as no surprise that fantasy fiction/science fiction were heavily recommended, from "The Colour of Magic" by Terry Pratchett to "Dune" by Frank Herbert and the list of suggestions looks very healthy indeed, but after much fervour the first novel chosen is:

"The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss (Book 1)

According to Wikipedia this book was written by Rothfuss while he studied for his degree in English, with the intention to create "a completely new kind of book without the generic characteristics of fantasy". We will soon find out what that means!

The summary on the back of the book reads:

I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me."

If this sounds like something any Guild Members would be interested in picking up, do head over to the Discord channel (immo-book-club) and see you in December (remember to bring your tipple of choice and some nibbles)!
